Takes stock of development scenario of Kulgam

Kulgam: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan, today had a comprehensive review of Covid mitigation measures being implemented by the district administration in Kulgam.

Advisor visited the District Hospital Kulgam and inspected the patient care facilities being extended there to Covid and Non Covid patients. He exhorted upon the hospital management to put in extra efforts towards making the patients feel comfortable and safe.

He said that the whole medical fraternity has a special role to play in these times of crisis and the society will always remain indebted to their selfless contribution towards fighting this dreaded virus.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din- Bhat and other senior officers of the district administration.

Advisor inspected the status of newly commissioned 1000 LPM oxygen plant and reviewed its functioning briefly. He also took stock of availability of oxygen in wards and availability of Covid care and other essential medicines there.

Deputy Commissioner briefed the Advisor about the overall functioning of the hospital informing that there is availability of 120 oxygenated beds at district hospital besides adequate cylinders and concentrators are also in stock.

Advisor appreciated healthcare workers for their role in fighting and saving human lives. He said that the government has augmented health care facilities especially in the wake of Covid and it must be their prime concern to make optimum use of the same for saving the humanity.

Later, Advisor chaired a meeting of officers and reviewed development scenario of the district with emphasis on implementation of various social sector schemes.

Deputy Commissioner through a power point presentation presented overall development profile of the district highlighting the physical and financial achievements recorded under various projects.

He informed that 6 projects had been taken up in the district under PMDP including NTPHC Srandoo, IPD block at District Hospital, SDH D H Pora, SDH Qaimoo and indoor stadium at Qaimoo, of which, MCH Kulgam and PHC Srandoo have been completed while the work on rest of the projects is in progress.

While reviewing implementation of social sector schemes, Advisor stressed upon the officers to sensitize the people about various welfare schemes tailored for their socio-economic empowerment. He laid emphasis on saturation of centrally sponsored and individual beneficiary oriented schemes.

Later, several delegations including transporters association, traders association, fruit association, Awkaaf Committee members and tribal delegations called on the Advisor and put forth their issues and demands for early redressal.

Earlier, Advisor Khan visited Sports Stadium Kulgam and inspected the proposed site identified for construction of Indoor stadium there. He also felicitated the players who have won medals and awards in different sports categories during various sports events held at the UT level.

…meets DDC, PRI members

KULGAM, JUNE 01: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan, today visited Kulgam and met the members of District Development Council, Block Development Councils and Panchayat Raj Institutions.

Chairperson, District Development Council, Mohammad Afzal Parray, Vice Chairperson, Shazia Jan and other DDC members besides BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs and Panchs were present.

Advisor had a detailed discussion regarding various issues concerning growth and development of the district. He sought feedback and suggestions of the participants to ensure effective implementation of all welfare and development schemes in their respective areas.

The participants apprised the Advisor about various issues and problems of their constituencies seeking an early redressal to the same.

While interacting with the members, Advisor said that government has empowered Panchayati Raj Institutions to ensure perceptible change with regard to development of villages. He asked all the participants to take keen interest in all the development works being executed in their respective areas to obtain highest outcome. “LG government is committed towards taking the governance at the doorsteps of each and every household of the Union territory,” he asserted.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat, apprised the Advisor that the district plan 2021-22 has been formulated after due consultation with the DDC, BDC and PRI members who are the major stakeholders of development in these areas.

DDC Chairperson appreciated the district administration for initiating timely measures towards containment of Covid-19 infection in the district.
