Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded 2,253 fresh Covid cases, which took the tally to 2,86,684, while 46 deaths in the past 24 hours took the toll 3,841 in the union territory, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 1,459 were from the Kashmir Valley and 794 were reported from Jammu division and of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest 353 cases, followed by 343 in Jammu district and 203 in Kupwara district.

The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic rose to 3,841 as 46 patients — 30 from Jammu division and 16 from Kashmir Valley — died in the past 24 hours.

Officials also said that 4334 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals during the same period. This includes 2436 persons from Kashmir Valley and 1898 from Jammu division.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 2,86,684 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 39,255 active cases in the UT, while 2,43,588 have recovered and 3841 have died — 1973 in Kashmir and 1868 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 84,92,134 test results available, 82,05,450 samples have tested negative till May 29, 2021.

Till date 20,76,265 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 79,588 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 39,255 in isolation and 1,45,202 in home surveillance while 18,08,379 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
