J&K registers 56 Covid deaths, 2,803 fresh infections

Srinagar: The COVID-19 infection tally in Jammu and Kashmir rose by 2,803 in a day to reach 2,84,431 while 56 fatalities during the same period took the death toll to 3,795, officials said on Friday.

Of the fresh cases, 1,794 were from the Kashmir Valley and 1,009 were from the Jammu division, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest 382 cases, followed by 320 in Jammu district and 228 in Kupwara district.

Of the 56 COVID-19 deaths, 30 were reported from Jammu division and 26 from Kashmir Valley.

Officials also said that 3637 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals during past 24 hours. These include 1741 from Jammu division and 1896 from Kashmir valley.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 2,84,431 positive cases cumulatively recorded thus far, currently there are 41,382 active cases across the UT, while 2,39,254 patients recovered and 3,795 have died so far — 1957 in Kashmir and 1838 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 84,48,327 test results available, 81,63,896 samples have tested negative till May 28, 2021.

Till date 20,67,466 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 79,746 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 41,382 in isolation and 1,45,443 in home surveillance while 17,97,100 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
