In a statement issued here, Ghulam Hassan Mir termed the virtual meeting as an important tool in the prevailing circumstances to take the cognizance of the situation on grassroots levels.

He said that the leaders deliberated over the deplorable condition of the health sector across J&K wherein there exists dire shortage of vaccines and oxygen concentrators, due to which the people are suffering immensely.

“The leaders expressed that the government should muster all the resources for procuring vaccines from other countries by throwing open global tenders in order to save the precious human lives. Furthermore, the concerns were raised over the high Covid mortality rate in Jammu division which points towards the lackadaisical attitude adopted by the bureaucratic set-up. Also, the condition of the roads connecting remote villages with the city is extremely appalling due to which many patients die halfway while being shifted to the hospitals in Jammu,” Mir narrated.

He said that the leaders in the meeting demanded an unconditional opening up of Mughal and Sinthan Top roads that can act as alternative seasonal roads between the Jammu and Kashmir division.

“In the meeting it was also agreed that all the roads need to be opened up without any restrictions especially keeping in view the current pandemic crisis and wherever special airlift flights are required, the administration should incorporate such facilities for shifting the Covid patients to nearest hospitals in time,” he said.

Moreover, he said that the leaders from both the divisions of the UT have unanimously lauded the efforts of the Party leadership in raising the concerns of the people who are currently suffering due to this vicious pandemic and economic repercussion of the continuous lockdowns.

“The leaders asserted that the free ration scheme has benefitted only a selected section of the people while the rest have also suffered equally due to the pandemic lockdowns. Our demand is that the government must announce comprehensive and inclusive relief packages that mitigates the sufferings of all wherein nobody is left out,” he said.

He further added that the Party leaders are putting their unstinted efforts to raise the grievances of the people before the competent authorities.

“May it be in Rajouri, Jammu, Mendhar, Srinagar, Bandipora or anywhere else in J&K, the leadership is actively keeping any eye over the developing circumstances and has vowed to continue to deliver their altruistic services in future as well,” he said.

Mir said that in a three-hour long virtual meet, numerous issues concerning the public welfare were discussed in detail, and the leaders explicitly condemned the violent action taken by the official of the forest department in district Shopian wherein various members belonging to the Gujjar community were beaten to the pulp in guise of implement forest evictions.

“The members consistently urged that the current bureaucratic set-up is arrogantly acting impervious to the woes of the public and their prime concern has become to impress the governing elite. This has created a wedge between the people and the government and due to which in every corner of Jammu and Kashmir people are feeling dejected and alienated. However, such perceptions need to be corrected and addressed at an earliest,” he said.

Mir said that such meetings will be further organised by the party in the future, so that inputs regarding the situation of pandemic in all urban and rural areas of J&K is closely monitored.
