Srinagar: The COVID-19 death toll in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 3,422 on Thursday with 67 more fatalities, while 4,169 new cases pushed the infection tally to 2,60,057, officials said.

Of the new cases, 1,518 were from the Jammu division and 2,651 from the Kashmir division, they said.

Srinagar district recorded the highest 674 new cases, followed by 499 in Jammu district and 393 in Budgam district.

The death toll has risen to 3,422 as 67 patients died in the past 24 hours — 41 from Jammu division and 26 from Kashmir Valley, officials added.

They said 4042 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals including -1533 from Jammu division and 2509 from Kashmir Valley during past 24 hours.

According to the daily media bulletin on Covid-19, out of 2,60,057 positive cases recorded  cumulatively thus far, currently there are 50,554 are active cases across the union territory while 2,06,081 have recovered and 3422 have died – 1810 in Kashmir Valley and 1612 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 80,92,877 test results available, 78,32,820 samples have tested as negative till May 20, 2021.

Till date 19,99,215 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 74,131 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 50,554 in isolation and 1,30,671 in home surveillance. Besides, 17,40,437 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
