J&K records 51 deaths, 3,733 fresh COVID cases in past 24 hours

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 3,733 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 1,87,219, even as 51 fatalities over the last 24 hours took the death toll to 2,421, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 2,439 were from the Kashmir Valley and 1,294 were from the Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 1,136 cases, followed by 584 in Jammu district and 296 in Pulwama district.

The number of active cases has reached 34,567 in the union territory, while 1,50,231 patients have recovered so far, the officials said.

The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic rose to 2,421 as 51 fresh deaths – 35 in Jammu region and 16 in Kashmir valley – were reported in the past 24 hours.

Officials said that during past 24 hours, 1536 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals including 626 from Jammu division and 910 from Kashmir Valley.

According to the daily media bulletin on Covid-19, out of 187219 positive cases thus far, 34567 are currently active positive, 150231 have recovered and 2421 have died; 981in Jammu division and 1440 in Kashmir.

The bulletin further said that out of 7380302 test results available, 7193083 samples have been tested as negative till May 03, 2021.

Till date 1830792 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 94844 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 34567 in isolation and 118264 in home surveillance. Besides, 1580696 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
