  • It will be useful in all grades (mild to severe) of COVID patients.
  • It is approved line of COVID management.
  • 20 minute sessions after a gap of 2 to 3 hours recommended.
  • It is a well-recognised component of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) critical care management.
  • It is known to improve oxygenation and reduce oxygen requirements, as well as reduce mortality in patients with moderate to severe ARDS managed in critical care.
  • It may potentially delay or reduce the need for intensive care.
  • The proposed mechanism is that the said position relieves the dependent lung regions from the compressive force of the heart’s weight or increasing aeration in the originally dorsal lung regions.
  •  The overall lung ventilation from dorsal to ventral areas is more homogeneous in the prone position than in the supine position.
