J&K reports 1086 fresh Covid-19 cases, five deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 1086 fresh covid-19 cases, the second highest number of infections in a single day this year, while five more people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday.

Among the fresh cases, the officials said that 684 were reported from Kashmir Valley and 402 cases were from the Jammu division, taking the overall case tally to 141736.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 388 novel coronavirus cases, including 69 travellers, followed by 199 in Jammu district and 107 in Baramulla district.

They said Budgam district reported 53 fresh cases, Pulwama 12, Kupwara 23, Anantnag 29, Bandipora 23, Ganderbal 19, Kulgam 19, Shopian 11, Udhampur 37, Rajouri 12, Doda one, Kathua 23, Samba 19, , Poonch 19, Ramban seven and Reasi 85.

Regarding the deaths, they said, three were from Jammu division and two from Kashmir Valley, taking the toll to 2042.

The number of active cases has now reached 9,390 in the Union Territory, while 1,30,304 patients have recovered so far, they said.
