‘No waiting period, slots increased for registering of documents’

Jammu: In a bid to make registration convenient and transparent, the Revenue department has done away with the waiting period for scheduling of an appointment in any of the 87 Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) in Jammu and Kashmir.

It said that any citizen desirous of registering any document, can book a slot for the same day with no waiting period.

Pertinently the Revenue department in consultation with Inspector General of Registrations and Software Development Unit, NIC Pune, by making necessary arrangements in NGDRS Software has increased the number of registration slots from 25 to 42 per day for each Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) with effect from 6th of April 2021 –with the provision for rescheduling interface to the SROs, an official press release informed.

It said this has enabled rescheduling of more than 500 slots which has ended the queue, bringing a huge respite and comfort to the citizens.

With these measures, presently there is no waiting period for scheduling of an appointment in any office of any of the 87 SROs in UT, the press release said.

The department has requested the citizens/advocates/deed writers to book their appointment dates only when they are eligible for the same and are ready with their documents with all prerequisites complied with. The department is also in the process of enhancing the utilization percentage of the slots booked.

The department has further asked the citizens to contact the office of IGR at 0191-2572728 and mail id: igrjnk@gmail.com or visit the departmental website at www.igr.jk.gov.in for any facilitation or assistance.
