SRINAGAR: The field executives of Legal Metrology department today booked two delivery boys in downtown Srinagar for overcharging on cooking gas refills and a penal sum of Rs 5000 was also collected from them on the spot.

As per a statement issued here it was informed that the Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) has fixed a rate of Rs 925 (inclusive of subsidy) for refill cooking gas cylinders for district Srinagar whereas the delivery-boys were found charging more than the amount fixed by the authorities.

It was given out that for districts Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam, and Bandipora, the Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) have fixed a refill rate of cooking gas at Rs 925.

For places, Baramulla, Pahalgam, Dooru, the refill rate of cooking gas is Rs 933.50 and for district Kupwara, it is Rs 942/.

Meanwhile, the consumers are informed to lodge the complaints with management of the Gas Distributors or sales officers of the OMC or with the department of Legal Metrology on the toll-free Number 1800-180-7114 during office hours.
