Srinagar: Cordon and search operation launched in Gulab Bagh area on the city outskirts last evening was called off today as the militant believed to be trapped in the area had escaped.

Official sources told ‘Kashmir Images’ that a joint team of security forces launched search operation in Gulab Bagh area late last evening following inputs about the presence of militants there.

They said the operation was halted for a night, however floodlights were installed and additional reinforcement called in to ensure that the militants do not escape. Forces also conducted house to house searches in the area but could not find any militant out there.

Militants who were believed to be trapped in an under-construction building in Guab Bagh area were also asked to surrender while some warning shorts were also fired to make the militants to react, however there was no response from the other side.
