They said the operation was halted for a night, however floodlights were installed and additional reinforcement called in to ensure that the militants do not escape. Forces also conducted house to house searches in the area but could not find any militant out there.

Militants who were believed to be trapped in an under-construction building in Guab Bagh area were also asked to surrender while some warning shorts were also fired to make the militants to react, however there was no response from the other side.

“As the forces closed in on the target house, the police offered a chance to the militants to surrender but there was no response,” a police official said.

They said the search operation was called off as the militants were believed to have escaped before the cordon was laid.
