Srinagar, Apr 06: Anti Corruption Bureau on Tuesday said that it has trapped and arrested a Works Supervisor of BDO Office at Gund Kangan in Ganderbal district while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 2000.

According to an ACB spokesperson, it had received a complaint from a contractor that one Abdul Rehman Bhat, Supervisor (Works) at Block Development office, Gund Kangan was demanding bribe for clearing his pending bills.

On receipt of the complaint, a case (FIR No.08 of 2021) was registered under section 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and a team was constituted which caught Bhat red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant. The bribe amount of Rs 2000 was also recovered on the spot and Bhat was arrested and taken into custody, ACB said, adding further investigation is in progress.
