Srinagar, Anti Corruption Bureau on Friday said that its sleuths caught a police Sub-Inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 7000.

Giving details, ACB spokesperson said Sub-Inspector Ghulam Mohammad Bhat of Police Station Serigufwara in Anantang had demanded a bribe of Rs 7000 from a complainant for stopping proceedings against him for his alleged involvement in a quarrel.

On receiving a complaint about it, a case under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered in Police Station ACB Srinagar and a trap was laid, which caught Sub Inspector Bhat red-handed while accepting bribe. The bribe amount of Rs 7000 was also recovered on the spot, and the Sub Inspector was arrested and taken in custody by ACB, the spokesperson said.
