Elaborate security arrangements in place for Amarnath Yatra: SSP Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Sandeep Choudhary Thursday said that elaborate arrangements have been put in place to ensure foolproof security for Amarnath pilgrims this year.

SSP Srinagar along with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Ajaz Asad, visited Pantha Chowk area in Srinagar to review security for upcoming annual Amarnath pilgrimage, scheduled to begin from June 28 this year.

“Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure foolproof security for Amarnath pilgrims on both security and civil front,” SSP Srinagar told reporters.

On the occasion, DC Srinagar said this year’s pilgrimage to the holy cave would be the major one and the administration would provide suitable accommodation to pilgrims. He said there is ample space at Pantha Chowk to accommodate the pilgrims.

“I along with SSP Srinagar visited Pantha Chowk area to review the arrangements for annual Amarnath Yatra. There is ample space at Pantha Chowk to accommodate pilgrims. Besides all measures would be undertaken to ensure foolproof security to the pilgrims,” DC Srinagar told reporters.
