Power transformer of Zandafaran damaged five times in past three months

Baramulla: A power transformer in Zandfaran village of Narvaw area of Baramulla got damaged five times in three months due to which the area is reeling under darkness and people are facing hardships due to frequent power disruption.

Inhabitants of the Zandafaran village allege that they are facing hardships as their 100 KW electric transformer got damaged five times in last three months and they fail to understand what the department is doing by repeatedly repairing it.

They said that they approached the higher officials of the department so many times for a new transformer but they are not paying any attention.

Executive Engineer power development department (PDD) Baramulla Dalbir Singh confirmed that the transformer of said village was damaged five times in past three months, but said that it all is happening due to overloading. “Yes the transformer of the said village got damaged five times in past three months and every time we repaired it at our Baramulla workshop. The frequent damage indicates that people are consuming electricity more than its capacity,” he said.

“There are only 45 houses depends on it and around 30 kilowatts will be their load, now we are making a plan to handle this situation and hope it will not damage in future,” the official said.
