Dir JKEDI briefs Pr Secy I&C about functioning of Institute

JKEDI trains 32 aspiring entrepreneurs in Rajouri

JAMMU: Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce (I&C), Ranjan Prakash Thakur, today reviewed the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Bari Brahmana campus here.

On this occasion, Director JKEDI, G.M Dar, briefed the Principal Secretary about the Institute’s functioning and informed him about the progress of the action plan for the next three years. He informed the meeting that thirteen thousand enterprises will be established through JKEDI which will, directly and indirectly, employ one lakh people here.

The Principal Secretary urged the Institute’s management to ensure that maximum number of educated youth get benefit from the Institute’s schemes.

The Principal Secretary commended the Institute on the work done in the previous years. “We have to think big, and entrepreneurship is the way forward to create employment. It is essential to diversify and set new benchmarks. The government has many schemes for this, and JKEDI has a role to play in creating an enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem,” said the Principal Secretary.

He also interacted with the faculty members and other officials of the Institute and took detailed stock of the Institute’s performance. He urged upon the Institute to further strengthen their efforts to make people realize that there are ample opportunities for earning a dignified livelihood, besides government jobs.

The Principal Secretary gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised during the review meeting and assured that the Department would take due care during the implementation of different policies and asserted all the requisite support to the Institute.

Director Finance, Industries and Commerce, Director Planning, Industries and Commerce besides officials of JKEDI were also present in the meeting.
