Among others present on the occasion included Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Dr Shahid Iqbal Sheikh; Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Marh, Dr Ashwani Kumar Jojra and other senior officers.

Interacting with the farmers on the occasion, the Director Agriculture Jammu underlined that objective of such programmes is to make the farmers aware of latest technological interventions in the field of agriculture to achieve the target of doubling the farmers’ income by 2022.

The farmers were advised to replicate the new technology in their respective areas that they will learn during the visit and further share it with other fellow farmers.

It was given out that farmers from all four zones of Sub-Div Marh will visit Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Advanced Centre for Rainfed Agriculture in Jammu and Samba Districts, where they will interact with Agri experts.

Further, it was appraised that the PMKSY- PDMC focuses on enhancing water use efficiency at farm level through Micro Irrigation technologies viz. Drip and Sprinkler irrigation systems. The Micro-irrigation technique not only helps in saving water but also in reducing chemical fertilizer usage, labour expenses and other input costs.

Agriculture Extension Officer Pounichak, Dr Tirath Singh as Team Leader and one officer from each zone are accompanying the farmers during the visit.
