The road is managed by the Border Roads organization. Authorities did intervene but cleared part of the debris and not the boulders that were hanging overhead. Last evening the rains brought these boulders down and the road was blocked, locals alleged.

Locals said landslides hit Mohra-Baaz road at Choola disrupting the traffic movement as well as people’s connectivity with the plains of the area. “The landslide is of high magnitude and over a kilometer road has been buried under the debris” said Ghulam Din of Choola Uri.

“We demand swift widening and safety walls to ensure smooth movement of traffic and travelers,” a local resident Nowshad Ahmad said.

A Beacon official said the connectivity is being established as it is difficult to work in odd weather condition on precarious road stretch.
