6 residential houses gutted in nocturnal blaze at Nawab Bazar
Srinagar: Six residential structures were gutted in a devastating blaze at congested Nawab Bazar area in old city during the preceding night.
Locals said that fire broke out in a residential house at Nawab Bazar locality during preceding night, which engulfed five other adjoining structures within no time.. Officials said the fire erupted at around 4:20 am, apparently due to short-circuit.
“Fire broke out in a residential house at around 4:15, such was intensity of fire, that five other structures also turned to ashes in less than half-an-hour. It was a devastating blaze which left everyone terrified,” Shakir Ahmad, a local resident told ‘Kashmir Images’.
Officials said as soon as information about blaze was received, fire-tenders were rushed to the spot to douse off the flames.
Residential houses damaged in the blaze belong to Mehraj-ud-Din Khan, son of Abdul Gaffar Khan, and Ghulam Rasool Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, Nazir Ahmed and Javed Ahmad Dar, sons of Ghulam Qadir Dar; Abdul Qayoom Khan, son of Muhammad Sadiq Khan; Tawheed Showkat Dar, son of Showkat Ahmad Dar, and Muneer Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar.
