NFCH organizes interactive meeting at Kupwara

KUPWARA: The National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) in collaboration with District Administration, Kupwara today organized an impressive interactive function for students of militancy and communal victims.

The Secretary NFCH, Manoj Panth and District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara Imam Din presided over the function.

Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary NFCH said that the objective of the programme was to review the implementation of project ‘ASSIST’ under NFCH. He said under this flagship programme 1716 children  rendered orphan or destitute in various communal,  or terrorist violence in Kupwara district,  have so far been covered for providing financial assistance to carry forward their education.

He said financial assistance of Rs.1250 per child per month is being  provided up to 12th class, Rs.1500 per child per month to Graduation/Post Graduation  classes and Rs.1750 per child per month to professional courses till the age of 25 years.

The Secretary NFCH appreciated the DDC Kupwara for his efforts in organizing such an impressive interactive programme in which a large number of meritorious students of militancy victims participated and shared their feedback and experience.

He expressed pleasure that the students of militancy victims are excelling in different fields of medical, education and mass communication.

The Secretary assured the students that this year girl students from Kupwara shall also be provided the chance of National Tour.

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Imam Din while addressing the meeting assured the students of every possible support from the District Administration. He directed concerned officers to ensure that free coaching is being provided to them at all tuition centres as per Government orders to orphan and destitute. He advised students to take advantage of online facilities to excel in their education.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone and DDO NFCH, Ravi Shankar Tripathy also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, the participant students projected their different demands, including demand for enhancement of financial assistance.

District social welfare officer Kupwara gave the vote of thanks.

Among others Chief Education Officer and Chief Medical Officer Kupwara were also present in the meeting.
