Dheeraj Gupta reviews implementation of transfer of funds, functions, functionaries to Municipal Bodies of JK

JAMMU: Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Dheeraj Gupta, today reviewed implementation of transfer of funds, functions and functionaries to various Municipal Bodies of the Union Territory including Jammu Municipal Corporation, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Urban Local Bodies, Jammu and Kashmir.

It was informed that seven departments have issued orders in pursuance to the decision taken earlier by the Administrative Council. The departments of Health, Social Welfare, Education, PWD, PHE, Floriculture and Forest have issued orders transferring the concerned setups within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation and Srinagar Municipal Corporation to the respective Municipal Corporations. Some of the departments like Floriculture have transferred several parks etc not only to the Municipal Corporations but also to the concerned Municipal Committees and Councils.

Various issues pertaining to manpower, assets and funds were raised by the concerned Commissioners and Directors. After thorough discussions it was decided that the specific issues shall be taken up with the Administrative Department and weekly review meeting shall be held to monitor the progress in the matter.

Principal Secretary desired that all issues should be flagged and resolved by the end of the March, 2021, so that the projects are taken up and implemented with full speed after April, 2021.

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary chaired another meeting of H&UDD to discuss status of  various works and schemes identified by the LG Secretariat like launch of Mass Housing Projects, Street Lighting in all the 76 ULBs, Decentralized Solid Waste Management facilities in the ULBs, Development of Centralized Web Portal, Dashboard and Mobile Application for delivery of all e-services links etc, Development of one Children’s Park and one Open Gymnasium in each ULB, completion of 3 ongoing parking projects one each in Srinagar, Anantnag and Jammu etc.

Principal Secretary directed the concerned officers to complete these schemes and works within the prescribed time schedule.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu, VC JDA, DULB Jammu, MD, JK Housing Board,  Chief Engineer UEED while Commissioner SMC, DULB, Kashmir and VC, LAWDA participated through video conferencing.
