World Day of Social Justice observed at Sgr, Gbl, Pul, Kul

SRINAGAR: Several functions, awareness camps were held at Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Kulgam districts of Kashmir by the respective District Legal Services Authorities on World Day of Social Justice.

World Day of Social Justice is a United Nations designated day observed every year on February 20.

The theme of this year’s World Day of Social Justice was ‘A Call for Social Justice in the Digital Economy’.

In Srinagar, as per the direction of Executive Chairman J&K SLSA, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, World Day of Social Justice was observed by District Legal Services Authority Srinagar at Conference Hall ADR Centre District Court Complex, here.

The programme was inaugurated by Chairman DLSA Srinagar, (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Abdul Rashid Malik.

On the occasion, Principal Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board Srinagar, Tabassum Qadir Parray, Advocate Syed Mujtaba, Manager Sakhi-One- Stop centre Rajbagh, Syed Ruksana, Panel Lawyer Bisma Khan, Panel Lawyer Suhaila Ali and Panel Lawyer Amtul Basit Deva addressed the gathering covering different aspect of Social Justice such as Access to Social well being, Poverty Eradication, Promotion of Full Employment, Gender Equality, Decent Work and Justice for All.

Secretary DLSA Srinagar, Adnan Sayeed spoke on the topic of Social Justice. He had also organized and conducted the proceedings of the programme.

Among others, Anganwadi Workers, Social Workers, Senior Citizens Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers participated in the programme.

At Ganderbal: Legal awareness programme on social justice was conducted by District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal under the directions of (DLSA) Chairman Mohammad Yousuf Wani at District Court Complex, here.

The programme was presided over by Tabasum, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.

On the occasion, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, highlighted the importance of social justice stating that Social Justice should begin from every home. He laid stress on the issue that senior citizens play a pivotal role in society as they gain a lot of experience in various aspects of life.

He further stated that senior citizens are to be respected and have every right to live dignified lives. “As parents they bring up the child with utmost love and care in turn when a person reaches the age of 60 and above he deserves the same respect and love as he has showered on his/her children,” he added.

Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Tabasum, threw light on the topic of Maintenance & Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizen Act 2019 and various problems faced by common people and the mechanism for redressal of the same.

Several advocates also spoke on the occasion and made people aware about the victim compensation scheme 2019 and various schemes of the social welfare department for the benefit of marginalized sections of the society.

Senior citizens from various areas, Tehsildars, staff from Social Welfare department, PLVs & DLSA staff attended the programme.

At Pulwama: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Pulwama organised a function to celebrate World Social Justice Day at Government Degree College, here.

The programme was conducted under the ageis of Chairman DLSA Principal District & Sessions Judge, Mohammed Ibrahim Wani while Secretary DLSA Khurshid ul Islam was Chief Guest on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, speakers educated participants about the importance of equal opportunities, distribution of wealth, healthcare facilities and privileges within a society and urged to inform the people about values and precepts of social justice provided by the constitution.

The function was attended by Principal Government Degree, members of the Bar Association, Lawyers, staff members, students, PLVs and other people.

At Kulgam: District Legal Services Authority Kulgam today organised an awareness camp on Social Justice at Government College D.H.Pora, here.

On the occasion, Principal of College Dr. Mohammad Farooq Mir, threw light on the various aspects of the topic.

Prof, Dr. Javid Ahmad also addressed the audience.

Resource person Advocate, Nasir Mushtaq Malik gave the historical perspective on the topic.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary DLSA Kulgam, Mehreen Mushtaq explained the role of Legal Services Authority in light of Various NALSA Schemes.

The programme was conducted by Advocate Adil Hamid Lone and attended by staff of Govt Degree College D.H.Pora, Students, PLVs and the staff of DLSA.
