Group of 40 J&K Sarpanchs visiting to Rajasthan for exposure tour

JAMMU: A group of 40 Sarpanchs, drawn from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir, are going to Rajasthan for an exposure tour.

It is the second batch of Sarpanchs from Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, who are visiting Rajasthan on five day training cum exposure visit from 10th February 2021 to 14th February 2021.

The purpose of the visit is to expose them to the best practices being followed by their counterparts in that state, make them interact with the beacon leaders there, learn about the implementation of the flagship schemes etc in the state of Rajasthan.

Director Panchayats, Rakesh Srangal and Director Rural Development, Jammu, Sudershan Kumar held an interaction with the delegation ahead of the tour.

Sarpanches were requested to take maximum advantage of the field exposure tour so that the best practices learnt get replicated in various Panchayats of J&K UT. During the visit, the Sarpanches shall be exposed to various activities including Solid Liquid Waste Management, generation of Own Source Revenue, Preparation of Budget, Integration of labour budget under MGNREGA with GPDP and SDGs, Integration of Panchayat Development plans at various tiers, Panchayat Enterprise Suit applications etc.

It is the vision of the Government of the UT to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system in the UT and to make the rural local bodies self reliant for taking innovative initiatives and develop their Panchayats   not only in respect of physical infrastructure but also social and economic fields. This is one of many steps taken by the department in the direction.

Other officials and officials of the Directorate of Rural Development Jammu were also present on the occasion. It was also informed that it will be a continuous practice with regular batches visiting various States at regular intervals.

Director Rural Development informed that this is the 6th batch in a series of batches visiting other States from the UT of J&K.

Director Rural Development Jammu wished that they have a successful and fruitful visit and Instructed them to follow all Covid protocols during the visit. Further, he instructed the touring Sarpanchs to learn the best practices from the PRIs of Rajasthan State as the Panchayati Raj system is well established in the State.
