Srinagar: Police in Budgam have arrested three notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said.

He said that police at a checkpoint established at Chandpora intercepted a vehicle Hyundai Venue bearing registered number JK01L-4445 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Yatoo resident of Sholipora Budgam, Sameer Ahmed Bhat resident of New Colony Agrikalan Magam and Asif Nazir resident of Archendrahama Magam. During checking, officers were able to recover 5gms of Heroin and 120 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon from their possession.

“They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Budgam where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” he said.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 24/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and further investigation into the matter has been initiated, said the spokesman.

Meanwhile, Police in Srinagar have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.

The spokesman said that police at a checkpoint established near JVC signalled a person carrying a bag to stop but he tried to flee from the spot.

“However he was chased and apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. During checking, 1008 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody,” he said.

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 14/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Parimpora and further investigation into the matter has been initiated,” the spokesman said.
