J&K Tourism participates in ITM, Ahmadabad

AHMEDABAD: Gearing up its promotional programmes outside JK, the J&K Tourism department participated in the 3-day India Travel Mart (ITM) held from 29 January- 31 January here.

Pahalgam Development Authority CEO Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Dy Director Tourism Publicity Jammu Anil Kumar Chandail represented the J&K Tourism in the travel show and interacted with the travel and tour operators, media persons from Gujarat and various other State tourism boards.

The focus during this ITM was to bring stakeholders together to promote domestic tourism in a unique style while also following COVID-19 protocols.

Various State tourism boards, representatives from the hospitality sector, inbound, outbound, domestic and specialised tour organisers, aviation industry, and all other professionals related to tourism industries from the country participate in the event to showcase their products and interact with their counterparts.

On the concluding day of the Travel Mart, the J&K Tourism also organised a press meet to apprise the media about tourism infrastructure development in J&K and Government’s initiative to open up new tourist areas for the travellers.

During the meet, they also highlighted effective measures taken by the administration to contain COVID-19 and ensure safe and hassle-free travelling.

A separate interaction of the J&K officials with the prominent tour operators of Gujarat was also held to seek their support for inclusion of the J&K’s travel destination in their travel itineraries.

The regional travel agents promised full support to J&K Government in promoting the UT as the choicest destination among the potential travellers from Gujarat.

Director Tourism Kashmir Dr G N Itoo said Gujarat is one of the main and oldest markets for J&K where a large number of travellers visit the UT for holidays.

He said the travel marts provide excellent opportunities for the department, travel and hospitality sector to publicise their destinations, various products and facilities among the target group at one place.

Dr. Itoo said the department’s officers had an excellent opportunity to showcase all tourism products to the visitors during the show and assured them that all COVID 19 protocols are followed to ensure the safe holiday of the travellers in JK.
