A case (FIR no. 09, dated 30/01/2021) has been lodged under sections 420, 506 and 120-B of the IPC, while the accused have been remanded in police custody, an official said.

According to police, few mobile phones and signed bank cheques were seized from the accused persons.

“The accused women would get contact numbers of men from public places like banks, shops, etc. She would then call and lure them to talk sex — record their conversations and later threaten them with implication in sexual harassment/rape case to extract money from them through her husband,” the official said.

“One such case came to light on January 29, when a shopkeeper of Lagama village approached police with the complaint that he was honey-trapped by the said woman and now she was demanding Rs forty thousand from him, failing which he would be framed in a false sexual harassment case. The gang has duped many other men in the area, but they failed to report their ordeal,” he said.
