Srinagar: Body of a 33-year-old man was recovered at Cherkoot forest area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, a fortnight after he went missing from his residence, officials said.
They man, identified by the officials as Javaid Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Dilawar Mir of Izgund Khumriyal Kupwara, had left his residence on January 15 and did not return to his home since then.
A manhunt was launched soon even as a missing report was filed with the concerned police station on January 19, but he could not be traced until his body was found near Cherkoot, a forest area this morning, officials said.
A police officer confirmed that the body has been found adding investigation has been launched in this regard.
