Srinagar: Three persons were arrested for their involvement in illegal trade of LPG gas cylinders near Alstop on NHW, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

“A Police Party headed by In-charge Police Post Mirbazar while conducting a routine patrolling on NHW near to Alstop found a truck bearing registration No. JK02A-3295 and a Tata Mobile bearing registration No. JK03G-6760 loaded with LPG Cylinders, where some persons were found breaking the seals of company filled LPG Cylinders and refilling some quantity of gas into empty LPG cylinders illegally. After filling gas in empty Cylinders they were resealing the gas cylinders with new seals,” the spokesman said.

“Subsequently, the Police party swung into action and arrested three persons from the spot. They have been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Chowgam Kulgam, Muneeb Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Hassan Shah resident of Sopat Tengpora and Javid Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Rasool Dar resident of Pinzri Shalteng Srinagar. Both the vehicles used in the commission of crime have been seized,” he said.

“Preliminary investigation reveals the arrested accused persons were doing this unscrupulous act from quite some time. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 07/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation in the matter has been initiated,” he added.
