Srinagar: A suspicious bag was destroyed by a bomb-disposal squad (BDS) along the Kupwara-Kralpora road on Monday, reports said.
Quoting official sources, news agency GNS reported that during a routine road inspection by army personnel (ROP) of 338 Field Regiment, a red color bag was spotted on the roadside near Harie area.
About arrangements for January 26, the IGP said that militants would try to disrupt the function but police will ensure all such attempts are foiled.
“A message was communicated subsequent to which the road was temporarily suspended for vehicular traffic,” said the report, adding “BDS was roped in as to determine the possibility of any incriminating or explosive thing inside the bag.”
“A squad arrived at the spot and destroyed the bag,” said the report.
The vehicular traffic movement resumed on the road after remaining suspended for over an hour.
