Secretary School Education reviews functioning of JKBOSE

JAMMU: Secretary School Education Department, B.K Singh, today took stock of the functioning of J&K Board of School Education here at its Divisional Office.

The Secretary interacted with the Officers and staff of JKBOSE to get firsthand account of various processes like admissions, examinations, evaluation and various other academic initiatives taken in order to continually upgrade the student-centred mechanisms.

He appreciated various steps taken by the Board to combat the unprecedented challenges posed by COVID-19 Pandemic, especially evaluation, declaration of results and conduct of examination jointly by JKBOSE and Directorate of School Education department, which was highly appreciated by Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports. He said that this signifies the dynamism of this organization. He also suggested many new initiatives like providing e-copy of answer sheets to students, sharing subject wise result data to the school teachers to assess learning outcomes for better classroom transaction management, improvising question papers to minimise memorising of facts and assessing ability based skills etc.

“JKBOSE is one of the prime organisations of the country in the field of school education and has been working effectively to maintain, evaluate and upgrade the standards in consonance with the changing scenario and rising demands. Digitisation of old records is a welcome step to facilitate easy and hassle-free verification process,” he added.

Chairperson JKBOSE, Prof. Veena Pandita, while welcoming the guests, appreciated the keen interest shown by the Administrative Secretary in various endeavours of JKBOSE.

Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education, Jammu; Mohammad Younis Malik, Director School Education, Kashmir (Online); Naseer Ahmad Wani, Additional Secretary to Govt, School Education Dept; Javid Ahmad Shagoo,  Addl. Secretary to Govt. (Law) School Education Dept. and  Shoket Mehmood, Jt. Director, School Education Dept., Jammu were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Secretary JKBOSE, Manisha Sarin,   gave a Power Point Presentation regarding the vision, mission and functioning of the JKBOSE.

Prof. Dr. Farooq Ahmed Peer, Director Academics also made a PowerPoint presentation regarding the Academic initiatives of the organization.

Others who participated in the meeting include Prof. Abdul Wahid Makhdoomi, Joint Secretary, IT & Publication; Dr. Sudhir Singh, Joint Secretary, Secrecy/Adm, JD; Altaf Hussain, Jt. Secretary Exams JD; Kuldeep Kumar, Chief Accounts Officer; Ghulam Hassan Wani, Dy. Secretary (Adm); Dr.Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Asstt. Director, JD; Dr. Arif Jan, Asstt. Director, KD; Suraj Mani, Assistant Secretary, Estates, JD; Rajesh Singh Jamwal, Information Officer, JD; Ranjeet Singh Manhas, Academic Officer and Suresh Kumar Gouria, Academic Officer.
