JAMMU: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today chaired a review meeting of Planning, Development and Monitoring department.

The meeting was attended by Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring, Simrandeep Singh; Director General, Planning, Development and Monitoring; Shahzada Bilal Ahmad, and other concerned officers.

Advisor had a brief overview of functioning of the department and monitoring process being carried out by the department. He reviewed the physical and financial achievements of various Centrally sponsored welfare schemes and programmes under implementation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Advisor said that the objective should be to plan comprehensive long term development strategy and address development challenges for overall socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir.

Simrandeep Singh informed the meeting that the department is monitoring Prime Minister’s Development Package, Flagship Programme, Direct Benefit Transfer Schemes and other schemes. He informed about the financial progress of completed and substantially completed PMDP projects.

The concerned officers presented a detailed description regarding their achievements on development front besides raising their issues and demands.

The meeting also gave an overview of individual beneficiary-oriented schemes like social security schemes, scholarship schemes for students, schemes for farmers, schemes for skill development, bank linked schemes besides highlighting status of various flagship schemes like Direct Benefit Transfer, Swachh Bharat Mission, National Health Mission, Smart Cities Mission and other Iconic Projects.
