WGAJK to hold South Kashmir, UT ski championship

Winter Games Association of J&K releases annual calendar of activities

Srinagar: The Winter Games Association of J&K has decided to hold the South Kashmir Ski Championship in collaboration with Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports at Pahalgam on 22nd January 2021 in which all the categories of athletes of south Kashmir districts would take part.

“The Championship is being held here with an aim to encourage a spirit of winter sports amongst local youth. All the participants shall report at JIM&WS at 9 am to collect the skis and thereafter report on the ski slope at Pahalgam. Since there are limited skis available the equipment will be issued on first come first basis. The forms could be submitted on the spot,” a statement issued by WGAJK said.

It said that the athletes must bring a PP size photograph and DOB certificates along.

“Besides, the WGAJK has decided to hold 3 daylong Union Territory Championship at Gulmarg from 28th Jan. For further information the athletes could contact the association officials at mobile numbers 7006041442 and 7006495413. All those skiers who perform better in regional championships shall be selected to participate in upcoming Union Territory Ski championship to be held at Gulmarg to be held from 28th Jan,” the statement said.
