Speaking on the occasion, Advisor said that the children themselves can become ambassador for child protection in their schools, homes and society. He said that the child rights violation begins from homes and the children can play a vital role to control these crimes.

Farooq Khan said that Swami Vivekananda was a saint, great thinker, social reformer and a youth icon. “His timeless teachings and wisdom are the driving force behind youth empowerment; inspiring the youth to develop a sense of excellence and selfless work for societal renaissance” he added.

Advisor urged upon the younger generation to adopt virtuous values among themselves and develop a great sense of duty towards the nation and fellow citizens. “The philosophy and ideals of Swamiji for which he lived and worked selflessly could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian youth,” the Advisor said.

He said that Swami Vivekananda is remembered for his 1893 speech at the Parliament of World Religions in which he had laid special emphasis on building capacity of youths.

Advisor appreciated the efforts of National Development Forum in the field of child right protection and asked them to arrange counselling session for the children regarding child protection rights, Juvenile Justice and other welfare schemes sponsored by the Centre and UT administration for their safety and protection.

The program began with the pledge ceremony followed by release of posters regarding protection of child rights. Besides, children of Bal Ashram, Nari Niketan and other homes participated in the symposium and painting competitions while students from Nari Niketan R.S Pura presented a dance performance on patriotic song.
