Srinagar: Police on Thursday arrested a person allegedly involved in wrongful confinement and sexual assault on a minor girl in southern Kulgam district.
After receiving a written complaint about a minor girl being sexually assaulted, a case (FIR no. 03/2021) under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Devsar, said a police spokesman.
During an investigation, police acted swiftly and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Abdul Rehman Laway, son of Abdul Aziz Laway, a resident of Malwan, he said.
The accused, he added, has been shifted to Police Station Devsar and is in custody.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the victim was handed over to her legal heirs.
