Winter Games Association of J&K releases annual calendar of activities

Srinagar: The Winter Games Association of J&K (WGAJK) held a meeting to finalize the dates for its upcoming events.

According to the spokesperson of WGAJK, the activities would be started with domestic Championships followed by prestigious UT and National level events.

“The district Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora district championship will be held on 18th January, whereas Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal district championship will be held on 19th. The dates for south Kashmir and Jammu districts will be announced separately. All the participants shall report at Gulmarg at 9 am on the dates fixed for their respective districts,” the spokesperson said.

“The forms will be available at Divisional Sports Officer, Polo Ground, Astt Tourist Officer-Tangmarg, Biscoe School (Camp at Gulmarg), Mehmood Ahmad Lone-Gulmarg, Tahir Mir-Alochabagh and Shabir Ahmad Dar-Tangmarg. The format of forms would also be available on social media accounts of WGAJK. All the participants shall have to bring their own skis, helmets and pack lunches. Except skilift no other facility could be provided by the organizers. For juniors the age categories are born 2000-01-02; 03-04; 05-06; and 07-08. “The Union Territory Championship will be held soon after completing the district championships and the teams shall be selected for Junior National and 2nd Khelo India National Winter Games to be held from 6th Feb to 10th Feb and 11th Feb to 17th Feb respectively. The first ever International Himalayan Championship will be held from 17th Feb to 22nd Feb. The WGAJK also plans to hold a coaching camp for the selected athletes for junior nationals,” he added.
