Srinagar: Police in Awantipora have arrested two notorious drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession, besides cash amount of Rs 50,000, a police spokesman said.
The spokesman said that police at a check point established at Reshipora Bunpora near irrigation gauge intercepted a vehicle Santro bearing registration No. JK03 B-9591 with two persons on board. During checking, police recovered 2.20 kgs of Charas from their possession and seized cash amount of Rs 50,000.
“Identified as Gulazar Ahmad Ganie resident of Braw Bandina and Bilal Ahamd Bhat resident of Kulpora Lassipora Pulwama, the duo was arrested and shifted to police station,” said the spokesman.
He said that the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized and accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 01/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
