Babar Azam wins big at PCB Awards 2020

Karachi: Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam has been named Most Valuable Cricketer of the Year and White-ball Cricketer of the Year, at PCB Awards 2020, for his consistent performances throughout the year.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who was the second highest run-scorer for Pakistan in Tests in 2020, has been declared the Test Cricketer of the Year.

Test cricketer Fawad Alam bagged the award for the Individual Performance of the Year after his century against New Zealand in the recently concluded first Test.

Pacer Naseem Shah, who became the youngest cricketer in the history of Test cricket to take a hat-trick, and rookie wicketkeeper-batsman Rohail Nazir, captain of Pakistan Shaheens, bagged the awards for the Men’s Emerging International Cricketer of the Year and the Men’s Emerging Domestic Cricketer of the Year, respectively.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kamran Ghulam, highest run-scorer in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, was named as the Domestic Cricketer of the Year.

Aliya Riaz is the Women’s Cricketer of the Year, while Fatima Sana wins the award for the Women’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year.

Spirit of Cricket award went to Pakistan team for visiting Bangladesh dressing room after their 2-0 win in the T20I series.

Asif Yaqoob won the award for PCB Umpire of the Year.

Successful staging of the Pakistan Super League season five in Pakistan was declared as the Corporate Achievement of the Year.

The nominations were finalised by an independent panel comprising highly respected and distinguished cricket personalities. In short-listing the nominees, the independent jury did not limit itself to just player performances, but also took into account various other factors, such as the opponent, impact, value and contribution of the players in the matches and/or during the period under consideration.
