During the visit, Dr. Samoon inspected various class rooms, labs and also interacted with the students. He enquired about the courses being offered to the youth and the employability of the course being run under skill development schemes.

While interacting with students and staff at the centre, Dr Samoon encouraged them to address the training needs of the candidates, and added that the Government is always at the forefront to provide any kind of guidance and support for Skill Development in J&K.

Dr. Samoon further stressed the need for self employment which would eventually make the young population self- reliant and thereby boost the skill and entrepreneurship ecosystem in J&K.

Dr. Samoon also emphasized on the need of imparting personality development skills to the youth to prepare them for the competitive job market.

Speaking on the occasion, Mission Director, J&K Skill Development Mission Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah asked the centre head to introduce skill courses as per current industrial demands so that the trained youth would be easily employed in the industrial sector.

Dr. Abid also said that in near future new skill development courses would be introduced under Suryamitra scheme which is being implemented by Government of India, and under the scheme, upskilling of youth would be done who have already passed electrician training from ITI’s from J&K.

PMKK Centre Head informed that PMKK, Kunjwani, Jammu was one of the first PMKKS in the country which was inaugurated in 2017, and it is one of the flagship Skill Development institutes in J&K. This PMKK centre is providing skill training to eligible candidates in various domains/job roles including Assistant Electrician, Sewing Machine Operator, General Duty Assistant, Assistant Beauty Therapist, Customer Care Executive, and Retail Associate programmes.
