Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal have arrested five bootleggers and recovered 20 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.
A police spokesman said that police at a checkpoint established near CRPF 118BN Head Quarters NHW Gund, Ganderbal intercepted five persons identified as Mohammad Safdar Sheikh resident of Nowshera, Ashok Kumar Patra resident of Odisha, Ranjeet Kumar resident of Udhampur, Waseem Ahmad resident of Ramsu Ramban and Rahul Gupta resident of MP Bumra.
“During search, police were able to recover 20 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Gund where they remain in custody,” said the spokesman.
He further said that a case FIR No. 78/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Gund and further investigation is in process.
