Srinagar: The locals of Anantnag alleged the Municipal Committee of dumping the garbage on the main road at Bakshiabad, Iqbal market near Government Women’s College gate number 2.
They said that from the last 20 years, the garbage is being brought here from areas including S.K Colony, Sarnal and other nearby areas. “The garbage is removed by the Municipal Committee Anantnag once in a week which results in pollution.
“I have not seen a single dustbin installed in the area. The garbage is being constantly dumped by the Municipal Committee which attracts stray dogs causing fear among locals and college students,” said a local shopkeeper, Ahmad Mudasir.
An official of Municipal Committee Anantnag, Muzamil Sofi said, “We are trying to solve the problem by introducing hoppers trucks to minimize the waste present over there.”
