Advisor Farooq Khan attends virtual meeting chaired by Union WCD Minister

JAMMU: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, attended a virtual meeting held here today which was chaired by Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Zubin Irani from New Delhi, to review the performance and implementation of various schemes of the Ministry.

Several issues related to ensuring quality standards and testing for THR, integrating AYUSH practices, need for single nodal office at district level and engaging local stakeholders in oversight services were  discussed in the meeting.

The Union Minister reviewed status of centrally sponsored schemes including various necessary facilities including infrastructure in Anganwadi Centres, ICDS, Women Help Lines, Mahila Shakti Kendras.

She asked for effective implementation of the existing schemes besides introduction of new initiatives to ensure larger platform for women and children.

Advisor, while elaborating the details of all the schemes, apprised the meeting about the initiatives being taken up by the UT administration for upliftment and protection of women and children.

The Union Minister applauded the efforts of UT administration and assured her full support through the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare Department in expediting the full-fledged implementation of all the centrally sponsored schemes of the Ministry.

Advisor assured the Union Minister that the UT administration shall leave no stone unturned in providing safety and protection to women and children besides accelerating the implementation of developmental schemes of the department.
