Srinagar: Police have arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora while as another peddler was booked under Public Safety Act in Srinagar.

A police spokesman said that police arrested a drug peddler from Awantipora and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances.

The spokesman said that on a specific information, Police raided a village Zasoo area of Pulwama. During the search, 10 Kgs of Bhung was recovered from the residential house of Suhail Ahmad Wani and 20 Kgs of Bhung from the residential house of Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Wani of Zasoo Pulwama.

Cases vide FIR No. 73/2020 & 74/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in PS Litter and investigation have been set into motion, said the spokesman.

Similarly in Awantipora, Officers at a check point established at Beighpora Awantipora area intercepted a person identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani resident of Beighpora Awantipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 04 Kgs of grinded Cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Awantipora where he remains in custody, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, police is Srinagar booked a notorious drug peddler under Public Safety Act.

A police spokesman said that police had earlier seized huge quantity of contraband substance from the possession of a notorious drug peddler identified as Gh Rasool Wani alias Raja Puj resident of Meerakabad Shalimar Srinagar.

“The case was duly processed and the arrested drug peddler was detained under Public Safety Act after obtaining sanctions from the concerned authorities and shifted him to Kotbilwal Jail Jammu,” said the spokesman.
