Passengers stuck in snowstorm at Razdan Pass rescued

Srinagar:  A team of Beacon personnel of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on Saturday rescued passengers stuck in a snowstorm at Razdan Pass on Gurez-Bandipora highway.

Officials said that two Sumo cabs carrying passengers were on the way to Gurez when a snowstorm hit the highway at high altitude Razdan Pass.

They said a team of Beacon was rushed along with necessary equipment for the rescue operation.

The team first shifted the stranded passengers to safer places and then the two cabs stuck in the snow were taken out safely without any damage.

“The snow storm had hit the highway with high speed and the vehicles were stuck deep into the snow. It needed a lot of efforts and expertise to rescue passengers and safely remove vehicles,” said an official.

All the passengers and vehicles were safely brought back to Bandipora.
