Militants attack police party in Hawal; cop, civilian injured
Srinagar: Two people, including a civilian, were injured after militants opened fire on a police party here on Sunday, police said.
The incident took place in Sazgaripora area of Hawal in the city, they said.
Militants opened fire on the police party, resulting in injuries to a policeman and a civilian. They have been taken to the hospital, a police official said while identifying the injured cop as Constable Farooq Ahmad, who he said has suffered a bullet wound in his leg. The injured civilian was identified as Muneer Ahmad Misger of Safa Kadal.
Following the incident, the area was cordoned off to track down the militants, he said.
