Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that they have arrested a rape accused within six hours in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
In a statement, a police spokesman said that the police had received a complaint that a 17-year-old girl (name withheld) was sexually assaulted and video-graphed by the assaulter.
As per the complaint, the accused had also shared the video on various social media networks.
After receiving the complaint, a case (FIR No. 120/2020) under relevant sections of law was registered at police station Devsar. A special police team later arrested the accused, who was identified as Mohammad Aamir Bhat, a resident of Gudder Kulgam.
Police said as a part of the investigation, necessary medico-legal formalities are being carried out.
