Bhatnagar reviews progress of works on CIIIT Jammu

JAMMU:  Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today chaired a meeting to review the progress of  ongoing works on Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) being set up at Government Polytechnic College Jammu in association with Tata Technologies.

The meeting was attended by Director Skill Development Department, Sajad Hussain Ganai; Principal, Polytechnic College Jammu, Arun Bangotra; Chief Engineer, R&B, Jammu, representative of Tata Technologies and other concerned officials of the Skill Development Department.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Bhatnagar stressed upon the officials to complete the ongoing works at  the center as early as possible so that advanced courses are made available to the student community.

The Advisor further asked the officials to prepare a proper module for both offline and online mode of classes in this center

Advisor Bhatnagar asked the officials to utilise the services of print, electronic and social media to create awareness among the student community so that they are able to make choices well before taking up any of a these courses offered.

The Advisor further asked them to create awareness among students across the colleges of Jammu and Kashmir through camps in coordination with Higher Education Department. He also asked them to hold webinars and online counselling sessions to make public as well as students aware about the quality and prospects of the courses offered through CIIIT.

The Advisor further asked the officials to reach out to the industrial estates across Jammu and Kashmir to highlight the courses offered through CIIIT so that the workforce there can also be attracted.

Giving detailed presentation on the progress of CIIIT at Polytechnic College Jammu, Director Skill Development, Sajad Hussain Ganai informed the meeting that out of nine competency centres to be established at CIIIT Jammu, five will be completed next month while as the work is also at the advanced stages of completion at rest of the centres.

The Director further informed the Advisor that the progress of installing workstation, machinery and other infrastructure as well as equipments is going on and will be completed before the end of December.

Pertinently, CIIIT is a joint initiative of Government of Jammu & Kashmir and TATA Technologies through which 9 competency centres will be established at Government Polytechnic Colleges of Jammu and Baramulla to strengthen the industry-academia partnerships and training of students as per current and future requirements of the industries. CIIIT will also give boost to innovation, incubation and skill development in entire Jammu and Kashmir besides these centers will offer industrial training to students, industry professionals and unemployed youth who want to upgrade their skills to latest technologies used in today’s modern Industrial environment.
