35 Candidates withdraw nominations at Kupwara, 37 in Anantnag

 Kupwara/ Anantnag: According to District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Kupwara, Anshul Garg, 35 candidates have withdrawn their nominations till November 21(last date for withdrawal of candidature) and 423 candidates are in fray for phase-III of ensuing District Development Council (DDC) and Panchayat by-election in the district.

Those who withdrew candidature include, 07 DDC candidates viz. 06 in Hyhama and 01 in Qaziabad, thereby remaining 42 candidates in fray in these 2 DDC constituencies.

Similarly, 06 Sarpanch and 22 Panch candidates have also withdrawn their nomination forms. Thus, 27 Sarpanch and 354 Panch candidates are in fray in these 02 constituencies.

Meanwhile according to District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Anantnag, on the last  date for withdrawl of candidature (21 Nov 2020),  for  phase-III of ensuing District Development Council (DDC), Panchayat by-election, a total of 37 candidates (5 for DDC seats, 29 for Panch, 2  for Sarpanch and 1 for ULB vacancies) withdrew their nominations.

Out of 299 nominations received 14 nominations were rejected during scrutiny, while 37 others withdrew their nominations thus leaving 248 candidates (13 for DDC seats, 185 for Panch, 23 for Sarpanch and 27 for ULB seats) in fray for the phase-III.

For this phase, the polling is scheduled to be held on 4 December 2020, wherever it is necessary.
