Div Com visits Anantnag to review election preparedness

ANANTNAG: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. P.K. Pole today visited Anantnag and reviewed the preparations being made for the smooth conduct of DDC elections and Panchayat & ULB Bye-elections in the district.

Pole also visited GDC, Boys Anantnag where election training was imparted to Employees being deployed on election duty.  District Election Officer,(DEO) K.K.Sidha and ACD, who is Nodal officer for Election training in the District was accompanied him. He stressed upon the Master Trainers to impart thorough training of EVM’s & Ballot Boxes to polling staff to ensure holding of free & fair elections with utmost transparency.

The Div Com was briefed by Nodal officers about the schedule being followed for training of polling staff in the District. On the occasion, the Master Trainers made a demonstration for operation of EVM’s & Ballot Boxes during the training session.

Later, the Div Com along with DEO visited polling stations in Grind

Aishmuqam and Gujran BataKote and took stock of the availability of basic minimum facilities (BMF’s) like drinking water, power supply etc there.

Talking to the media persons, the Div Com said that the aim of his visit was to review the preparedness of the district administration  for smooth conduct of DDC Elections and Panchayat/ULB Bye Elections.

Replying to a query regarding the demolition drive on Forest Land, the Div Com said that govt understands the difference between “need & greed” and the deserving families are being provided assistance under PMAY for construction of their houses.
