17 Candidates withdraw nominations for phase-II in Kulgam

Kulgam/Shopian: According to the District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Kulgam, as many as 17 candidates withdrew their nomination for phase-II of District Development Council (DDC) and Panchayat by-election on the last date of withdrawal of nominations on November 19, 2020.

Those who withdrew their nominations include 02 DDC, 06 Sarpanchs and 09 Panch candidates.

Thus, a total number of 176 candidates including 14 for DDC, 43 for Sarpanch and 119 for panch are in fray for phase-II of elections.

Meanwhile a total of 16 candidates withdrew their candidature on November 19, 2020 the last day for withdrawal of nominations, while 08 other nominations were rejected by Assistant Returning Officers.

Thus, a total of 62 candidates are in the fray for phase-II of upcoming District Development Council (DDC) and by-election of vacant Sarpanch and Panch seats in Kanjiullar and Ramnagri of district Shopian.

These 62 nominations include 11 for DDC, 16 for Sarpanch and 35 for Panch seats. Among those who withdrew their nominations include 01 DDC, 5 Sarpanch and 10 Panch candidates while, 1 Sarpanch and 7 Panch seats were rejected by the AROs.

The voting for this phase will be held on December 01, 2020, wherever necessary.

33 Candidates withdraw nominations in Anantnag

ANANTNAG: According to District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Anantnag, 33 candidates have withdrawn their nominations, while the nominations of 11 others were rejected for phase-II of the District Development Council (DDC) elections and Panchayat by-elections, 2020 in two blocks viz Shangus and Chittergul of the district.

As per the official data a total of 264 nominations were received out of which, 6 were received for DDC seat Shangus comprising of Shangus and Chittergul blocks, 30 for Sarpanch and 228 for Panch vacancies in the two blocks.

On scrutiny held on 17 November 2020, 11 Panch nominations were found invalid and rejected, thus leaving 217 Panch nominations. However, all nominations for DDC seats and Sarpanch vacancies were found valid.

On the day of withdrawal of candidature for this phase on 19 November 2020, 1 nomination for DDC seat, 7 nominations for Sarpanch and 25 for Panch vacancies were withdrawn.

Thus, a total of 220 candidates (5 for DDC seat Shangus, 23 for Sarpanch and 192 for Panch Vacancies in the twin blocks of Shangus and Chittergul) are in fray for the phase-II.

The polling for this phase will be held on 1 December, 2020 wherever it is required.

251 nominations received for phase-IV in Kupwara

KUPWARA: According to District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Kupwara, Anshul Garg a total of 251 nomination papers have been received for phase-IV of upcoming Development Council (DDC) and Panchayat by-elections in the district.

For 02 District Development Council (DDC) constituencies’ viz. Drugmulla and Mawar Qalamabad 29 nomination forms have been received for phase-IV till last date (November 20). These 29 nomination forms include 12 in Drugmulla and 17 in Mawar Qalamabad constituencies.

Similarly, according to DPEO, 12 nomination forms have been received against 02 vacant Sarpanch seats while 191 nomination forms have been received against 105 vacant Panch seats in these 02 DDC constituencies.

Meanwhile, 19 nomination forms have also been received against 03 vacant seats of ward members of Municipal Committee Langate.
